Garbage is collected once a week on a zone schedule on the same day as single-stream recycling. All garbage is to be placed in the green Township-issued cart. All carts are to be placed curbside no later than 6:00 a.m. the morning of the scheduled day for collection but no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the evening before scheduled collection day. The carts must be placed so that the arrows on the lids point towards the center of the street. A distance of three (3) feet must be kept between the carts and away from any obstacles such as cars, telephone poles, mailboxes, trees, etc.
Only Township-issued carts will be picked up, and all material must be placed in the carts as drivers can not exit the vehicles to pick up loose bags or other items. Each cart is electronically registered to an individual address, will remain the property of the Township, and must stay with the property to which it was registered.
In accordance with State and Municipal Law, garbage MUST NOT be mixed with any recyclables. The Township solid waste and recycling enforcement personnel will be making inspections to ensure compliance with the regulations.
All empty containers, single-stream recycling and household garbage carts must be removed from the curb no later than 8:00 a.m. the day after collection.
Garbage primarily consists of material that originates from the kitchen, bedrooms, or bathrooms.
Cardboard boxes may not be used as containers for any type of garbage, rubbish, trash or debris, including yard and/or vegetative waste.
ZONE SCHEDULE
- Zone 1 will have household garbage collected every Tuesday.
- Zone 2 will have household garbage collected every Wednesday.
- Zone 3 will have household garbage collected every Thursday.
- Zone 4 will have household garbage collected every Friday.
A Street Zone Index indicates the four zones and those streets which are collected in that zone.
WEEDS, PLANTS, ETC.
Weeds, plants and other vegetation that is part of your garden clean-up can be placed out for collection with household garbage. Place the material in the green garbage cart. Please remove as much of the dirt as possible from roots; place the dirt back into your garden.
Composting is a great way to recycle leaves, kitchen and garden waste. Compost bins can be purchased from the Township for $35.00. Call 732-531-5001 for more information about the compost bins.
HOLIDAY SCHEDULE
The Sanitation Division works all holidays except New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. When New Year's Day or Christmas Day falls on a Saturday it is observed on the preceding Friday; if the holiday falls on Sunday, it is observed on the following Monday.
