The automated collection procedures include what, when and how garbage and single-stream recycling are collected by the Division of Sanitation.
- Garbage and single-stream recycling are collected once a week on the same day each week. The days of collection, as well as that of leaves and brush, are determined by the zone in which you live. See Zone Schedule and Zone Street Index below.
- Each resident is assigned two (2), 95-gallon carts. One is dark green for household garbage; the other is blue for single-stream recycling.
- Single-stream recycling allows for all recyclable materials (cardboard, chipboard, paper, newspaper, mail (including junk mail), glass, plastic, aluminum and tin) to be placed in the blue recycling cart.
- Shredded paper is no longer permitted in your BLUE recycling cart. It should now be placed in your green garbage cart.
- Bulk trash is collected once a month on designated Mondays. See Zone Schedule and Zone Street Index below.
- Metal is collected on the fifth (5th) Monday of a month.
- Residents are strongly encouraged to place small amounts of loose brush (no leaves or grass clippings) in their garbage cart on regular garbage collection days.
- Concrete is no longer collected by the Township. Residents will be required to take this material to the Township recycling drop-off center, Sunset Avenue.
- New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has mandated the recycling of e-waste (electronic equipment). E-waste includes but is not limited to:
- cameras
- computer equipment including monitors, key boards, mouse
- microwave ovens
- radios
- stereos
- telephones
- televisions
- E-waste must be brought to the Township's Sunset Avenue Recycling Center.
Garbage and Recycling Collection Schedule
All carts and materials for collection must be placed at the curb line no later than 6:00 a.m. on the morning of the scheduled collection day but no earlier than 6:00 p.m. the night before the collection. Place the carts so the arrows on the lids face toward the center of the street. Also, keep a distance of at least three (3) feet between the carts and away from any obstacles such as cars, telephone poles, mailboxes, trees, etc. All carts must be removed from the curb line by 8:00 a.m. the day following collection.

The Township's recycling drop-off center on Sunset Avenue is available to residents and small local businesses for disposal of recyclable materials.
Important Information/Dates for the Collection Schedule
The Division of Sanitation observes the following three holidays: New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. No materials are collected on these holidays. If your scheduled collection falls on one of these holidays, alternate plans will be made as stated in the Township Calendar.
Old Garbage and Recycling Cans
Residents discarding old garbage/recycling containers may place them out for collection with bulk trash. Any containers placed to the curb for disposal must be visibly marked.
