Metal and appliances are collected on the fifth Monday of the month.
Collection dates are January 29, April 29, July 29 , September 30 and December 30th, 2024
Please have all metal items at the curb the night prior to pick up. There is no need to contact the office for your metal pick up.
No other recyclables or bulk trash will be collected on these dates.
Items included in metal & appliances pick-ups:
- ovens, washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators*, freezers*, etc.
- swing sets (must be broken down to 4 ft. lengths)
- bicycles
- exercise equipment, i.e. treadmills, stationery bikes
- lawn furniture with metal frames
- tire rims
- cabinets
- shelving
- fencing
- lawn mower (remove gasoline, oil, and disconnect spark plug)
*EPA regulations require that Freon gas must be removed from appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners. Residents must have the Freon removed and provide the Public Works Department with proof of removal before collection.
Residents may bring the appliances to one of several recyclers who can accept Freon-containing appliances. The Monmouth County Recycling Directory has a complete list of these businesses.
Pieces of metal such as pipes or poles from basketball hoops, lengths of wrought iron fencing or chain link fencing must not be longer than four feet in length. Concrete must be removed from poles.
Metal or appliances must not be put out for collection after 6 p.m. the night before your scheduled pick-up date and no later than 6 a.m. the morning of your pick-up.
Residents may bring metal and appliances as described above to the metal drop-off area at the Township Recycling Center at Sunset Avenue.
